Correct Goal

SMART

The “correct” goal, that’s exactly how I wanted to title this post today.

Everyone knows that if we want to achieve something, we set ourselves a goal. And we build our path to achieve it.

Tell me, how many set goals have you accomplished in the last three years❓

What did your goals sound like❓

To date, I am also an assistant practitioner where future professionals are learning coaching. So, it was really nice to see in the new stream that almost all students are familiar with the SMART goal building technique. Many even use it on a regular basis. That’s cool. Therefore, I decided to remind you about this technique as well. To show how important it is to specify the goal, or rather SMART it.

What is SMART

Specific – The goal should be Specific. When setting a goal, the outcome should always be specific.

“I want to lose weight.”

Measurable. You must understand the specific criteria (quality, quantity, percentage, income, etc) of measuring the success of your goal.

“I want to lose 10 pounds.”

Achievable. The goal should definitely be evaluated by you on the question – Is it even realistic and to what extent? Is it too difficult or easy? What can hinder? And what will help?

Relevant. It is necessary to find out for yourself how relevant this goal is for you now and how its solution will affect the solution of a more global task or tasks.

Time. Set a time frame for achieving the goal you are studying. It can be a specific date – day, month, and even time.

“I want to lose weight by 10 kg. by February 1, 2020.”

You can download a SMART goal setting checklist for yourself on the Usefulness page.

And here, how and why you should not say the goal in general and not specific words, will show a clip from the movie “The Magicians” – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZwMP_lJbFFY

And how can you keep yourself on this path and not get off❓

Find additional motivators – people ready to support you (like-minded people) it is very important; watch motivating material: photos, videos, articles; visualize yourself in the future, at the moment when you have achieved this goal, feel yourself, your feelings, emotions; try not to think about the difficulties and do not forget for what we are going to it; and by the way, “you can hang a dress in the bathroom” and every morning to look at it.
